Gabriel Parra

I'm a big fan of music in general, I believe that the good music could be anywhere, in any music gender. But if I need to talk about a very good chilean band, I would talk about Los Jaivas. I strongly believe that they are one of the greatest bands, not only in Chile but in all the world. Currently Los Jaivas are more like a tribute band, because there are only two original members left :(
The merit of this group is the mix of progressive rock and folklore rhythms, with a lot of virtuosity.

And if we are talking about virtuosity, Gabriel Parra is a reference. He was the drummer of the band and he was freaking amazing. A lot of the success of Los Jaivas came of the great talent of Gabriel Parra. When the band played in Europe, the people wanted to see them because they said that the drummer plays in a funny way, and it is true. When you listen to the songs you may believe that you are hearing a rock song, but then you realize that the drums are playing cueca's rhythms. Even in the 70's a magazine of England said that Gabriel Parra was the third best drummer of the world, below the drummer of Led Zeppelin and The Who (both monsters of the drum).

Sadly Gabriel died in 1988 in a motorcycle crash in Peru. Los Jaivas was in their best moment and after that it never was the same. But the memory of Gabriel reminds to today. In Chile the day of music is the day of his birthday, and that is a proof of his relevance and talent. So I strongly recomend to listen to the drums when you are listening Los Jaivas.

Sociology

Sociology is my second career, so I'm very observer with all because I don't want to change again hahah. Fortunately I like it a lot so far, but that doesn't mean that I don't believe that it needs to improve in a few aspects.

First of all, with the curriculum change of the last year, a lot of courses have too many information in it, so the teacher teach quickly and the learning is not that good as it could be. So review the courses of the curriculum is a need of the career, it could improve the learning process. Other imporant thing to be develop is the semesters workload. I don't believe that the workload is too high but in a few moments of the semester is really hard to be a sociology student. So is important to schedule the tests in a better way to avoid the stress, which is very dangerous for the mental health.

Sometimes is very fun to study with friends in the library of the faculty, but sometimes you want to be concentrated in the reading and you can't because all the people is talking, so I would change the library and put it a new one more quiet. Other thing that attract my attention is that some teachers have a lot of degrees, like magister, PhD or others, but they don't know how to use the datashow of the classroom, but that is a detail only, is not a thing to get mad or something like that.

In general terms, I'm very happy here.

Bojack Horseman

Lately I've been very obsessed with the Netflix show called Bojack Horseman and I believe that it is one of the profoundest series actually. Many people thinks that Bojack is a boring show because they expect a comedy sitcom, but Bojack is more serious than that. Even though it has a lot of funny moments, specially with Todd's adventures. (Todd is a secondary character who is interpreted by Aaron Paul who is also Jesse Pinkman!).

Bojack Horseman is it about a Hollwood actor who had a very famous tv series in the 90's but after that he didn't do anything relevant, so he fell in a strong depression and alcoholism... and also he is a horse. His agent recomended him to write a book about his life to make his carreer regain power, but since Bojack is lazy, the writer Diane Nguyen is doing his book, putting him in a introspective therapy.

I like very much how the show can combine a sad story whit a lot of jokes and funny stories. Sometimes is a very serious story and sometimes is a chain of ridiculous events. I also like the fact that the characters can be literally any animal. For example Bojack's agent is a cat, Diane's boyfriend is a dog, the news reporter is a whale, etc.

So I really recomend to watch this but if you don't want to is ok :)

Postgraduate Studies

Well first of all, sociology is my second carreer, so I'm not too motivated to keep studying right after finish these (I hope) five years. But in the future I would love to increase my knowledge with more studies.

I've always been interested in the study of arts, especially cinema and music. I want to learn how these expressions makes up the society and how the society find ways to demonstrate its feelings through a movie or a song. The problem is that arts are a thing made by and for the economical elite, so maybe it isn't what I'm looking for.

The other subject that I would like to study is something related with education, but not only oriented to schools, but something more global. That means learn about how the tv or the family or the religion educates. I don't really care about where I'm going to study that, but I'm thinking in a good university that could be in Chile or not.

I don't know if the postgraduate studies are usefull to learn more things or there are only an achievement to put in the curriculum for find a job more easily, but the desire to keep learning things is right there.

Is Piñera a drug dealer?

We all know that Sebastian Piñera is a turbid person who loves earn money without thinking about ethics or even legality. He had troubles with justice in the past, stuff related with Talca's bank and tax fraud. So I ask, if Piñera has no moral code and loves money, what could hold him back to be involved in the drug world?

In a lot of countries in the world, the drug business is closely linked to the political power, being the traffickers who controls the determinations of the president or the congress. Also, the best way to get undiscovered by the tax police is money laundry, like what Piñera does with his offshore companies.

Maybe you are thinking "Well, Piñera is a bad person but he can't handle the violence of the drug smuggling". False. He is one of the strongest supporter of the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, so he believes that it doesn't matter the dignity or the safety of others people to have what he wants.

So, thinking back:

- Piñera is not interested in abide by the law.
- The only thing he ever want is money and power.
- He doesn't care about other people beside him.

In conclusion, he is a trafficker like Gustavo Fring or Pablo Escobar.

My best holiday

I always loved the south of Chile, because is a very magic place full of nature and kind people. That's the reason of why my travel through the Carretera Austral is by far the best holiday of my life. I went there in february of this year (2018) and I been there like four weeks because that highway has a long extention, almost eight hundred kilometers!

I went with three friends, two of them were my classmates of school and one was the girlfriend of one of them. We traveled together for about two weeks and a half, and then I continued alone, because they needed to comeback to Santiago, but I wanted to continue my journey. I recommend a lot to go to the Carretera Austral, because it has a lot of beautiful places. For example, we went to the marble chapels in the General Carrera lake and it was a really gorgeous thing to see. When I was without my friends I went to a small town called Caleta Tortel, and that is the most beautiful place I've ever been, because in Tortel there isn't streets but only walkways and docks, like a dream. A curious fact (and unbelievable) of this highway is that it real name is Carretera Austral General Augusto Pinochet Ugarte and there are even monuments in his "honour".

A country I'd like to visit

If I have to choose a country to visit, I would choose India, because I believe that that country has a culture full of wisdom and introspection, and that is a subject very interesting to me.
My knowledge about India is very limited, but I know a few things. For example, I know that is a very poor country in which lives a lot of people, being the second country with more population in the entire world. Also the society of India is very sexist and is still working with a system of castes.

If I can achieve my dream to travel to India, I would to go to the temples and speak with the wisest people there. Then I would like to meditate and learn about self-knowing. Also, I would like to visit their old buildings and value the ancient architecture. I'd like to live there a couple of years to study their culture, but I wouldn't live there many time because there are a lot of things that I don't tolerate, like the sexism and the classism, not even mentioning the population troubles.
